Sir Peter Blake Godfather of British Pop Art Sir Peter Blakes work crosses all generational divides, and inspires great respect from younger artists such as Damian Hirst, Gavin Turk, Pure Evil and Tracey Emin. Knighted in 2002, an honorary doctor of the Royal College of Art, his work is represented in major collections throughout the world..

His work reflects his fascination with all streams of popular culture, and the beauty to be found in everyday objects and surroundings. Many of his works feature found printed materials such as photographs, comic strips or advertising texts, combined with bold geometric patterns and the use of primary colours. The works perfectly capture the effervescent and optimistic ethos of the sixties, but are also strikingly fresh and contemporary. There is also a strain of sentimentality and nostalgia running throughout his work, with particular focus towards childhood innocence and reminiscence, as can be seen clearly in his recent Alphabet series.

World Tour

Inspires ART Gallery is delighted to present the World Tour series by Sir Peter Blake. World Tour is a series of 10 original limited edition silkscreen prints of cities around the world including Paris, Chicago, Cannes, London and Nice.

These artworks continue Blake's fascination with the surreal and comedic opportunities that the use of collage presents. This is a theme that he has developed through his recent Classroom Suite and Paris Quartet, here Blake takes a more sophisticated and subtle approach; leaving the viewer to make the connections that he hints at in the compositions, both within individual pieces and across the series as a whole.

The series comprises: World Tour- Paris Parade, World Tour- Cannes Statuary, World Tour- Chicago Boating, World Tour- London Multi-Ethnic Crowd, World Tour- London Regatta I, World Tour- London Regatta II, World Tour- Nice Promenade, World Tour- Paris Dancing, World Tour- Paris Duel Giant Pig, World Tour- Paris Mugging.

Sandra Blow RA Sandra Blow RA (1925-2006) was one of the leading lights of the abstract art movement of the 1950s. Her works are often on a large scale and consist of abstract collages made up from cheap discarded materials such as sawdust, cut-out strips of old canvas, plaster and torn paper. The use of such materials is designed to create an expressive informality and promote a natural, organic feeling. Her works have a tactile as well as visual emphasis on surface, and her use of simple large geometric shapes lends a feeling of expansiveness and dynamism.

Charlotte Cornish Charlotte Cornish finds her inspiration in theplaces she has travelled to: most recently Venice, Ireland and the Suffolk coast. She often use photographs as an initial starting point for her compositions, but her paintings are not representations of places, but a mixture of elements from the seen world, and her own emotional responses and experience. The screen prints and lithographs have been made from a series of her own hand painted stencils, one for each colour printed. The resulting image exists only in its printed form. There is no ‘original’ from which the print has been copied.

  Rachel Deacon

Rachel’s work is primarily concerned with the female figure. Shapes and contours are used to create a strong composition, while rich colours and light and shadow are sued to create the timeless ambience of Rachel’s work.

Often the starting point for Rachel’s work will come from reading and poetry.  From these narratives she will translate an idea and create a scene in her work.  As the viewer, on e can immediately understand that what they are looking at has as much to do with what has just happened or is about to happen to these woman.

Rachel is inspires by such painters as Paula Rego and Frida Khalo.  She has enjoyed much success through her series of regular exhibitions.  She currently lives and worked in London.

  Mark Dempsteader

Mark Demsteader was born in 1963 in Manchester, where he still lives and works. He studied at Rochdale College and Oldham College before taking up a postgraduate position at the Slade School of Art in London. In a long and varied career his drawings have won several awards including The Lyceum Prize and the Sydney Andrews Scholarship. In recent years Mark`s reputation has flourished, such that he has become one of the most popular figurative artists working in Britain today.

His powerful depictions of the female form in clean assured lines of charcoal and gouache have sparked a renaissance of interest in traditional life drawing amongst the art collecting fraternity. In a contemporary art market seemingly obsessed with conceptual art Mark`s work is a timely antidote
