  April Young

Her figurative forms delve into the generic use of animal imagery, particularly in fables, and how this is used to express the human condition. Her latest pieces are influenced by stories such as those contained in Aesop's Fables, and express visual narratives related to folklore and mythology.  Traditional views of epic dramas are subverted with a modern take, producing a tone of humour and sensitivity inherent in the composition.  Energetic, leaping animal forms are also a favourite subject matter.

The ceramic pieces are hand-built in stoneware and fired several times to incorporate various combinations of glazes, lustres and outdoor firing practices.
